Jazz: music that brings people together and is constantly being reinvented
Dissiminating musical creation…
In addition to support creativity in jazz and enabling artists to created new works, another key aspect is the dissemination of these works to a broad audience. That is why the BNP Paribas Foundation supports festivals with ambitious programmings that are either anchored in French regions or abroad in countries where BNP Paribas is present.
As the musicians we support, each of these festivals receives tailored support and close attention to its development ambitions.
…by supporting festivals and institutions in France and abroad
The BNP Paribas Foundation supports several major festivals in France, including:
- L’Esprit du Piano in Bordeaux
- The Festival Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris
- The Festival Variations, the annual festival of experimental music based around the piano and keyboards, and co-founded in 2017 by the Foundation with Le Lieu Unique, national center for contemporary arts and music venue in Nantes
- Jazzdor, a festival in Strasbourg (as well as Berlin, Dresden and Budapest) that aims to shine the sportlight on the singularity of jazz creation – particularly French and European creation – as well as the emergence of new musicians. The Foundation has been supporting it since 2019
- Jazz sous les pommiers in Coutances
- The Lille Piano(s) Festival
- Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse
- Saint-Denis Jazz Club (Greater Paris area)
The BNP Paribas Foundation is also involved in international festivals through the Group Philanthropy as the Bank’s international subsidiaries also engage with culture locally.
This is the case of the Saint-Louis Jazz Festival and the Festival Au tour des cordes in Saint-Louis, Senegal, as well as the Bahrain Jazz Festival. BMCI (BNP Paribas’ subsidiary in Morocco) is a partner of the Festival TANJAzz in Tanger.
